As many Americans gathered to grill and celebrate Memorial Day weekend, ICE agents and protesters were clashing outside Newark’s Delaney Hall detention center as detainees launched a hunger strike to protest the facility’s reportedly inhumane conditions.
Late Tuesday night, as demonstrations pushed into a sixth day, federal authorities arrested two people outside the New Jersey facility for reportedly assaulting ICE officers.
